Season 11 Questions & Predictions
Join me in tackling some of the most asked questions after the S10 finale. I also share my S11 predictions and wishes. Here are my Top 11 Questions for Season 11!
Hearties, it has been a while since we have heard anything NEW from Hallmark Channel about Season 11. We just rang in 2024, and I don’t know about you, but I am anxiously awaiting a premiere date. While we wait, I’ll share my predictions to some of the most asked questions. I tried to address every major character or storyline in these questions. Please note these are my predictions and by no means do my “answers” indicate the truth. Here are my 11 questions and predictions for Season 11! Enjoy and please share your thoughts/predictions in the comment section at the end of this post!
Question #1: Will Nathan & Elizabeth finally confess their feelings for one another?
I believe Nathan and Elizabeth will finally confess their unresolved feelings for one another. If anything indicates this will happen, it’s the events of Episodes 11 and 12. First, we have Elizabeth opening her heart to Rosemary about the fact she made a safe choice by picking Lucas and wasn’t following her heart. She expresses these feelings in her heart are growing louder and louder each day. Then, she breaks up with Lucas at the train station. In Episode 12, Nathan and Elizabeth both go to the “ILY spot” with no solid answer as to WHY. They were both led there for some unknown reason. They always find each other in times of trouble or distress so this wasn’t any different. Before anything could happen Bill rode up to inform them of Lucas’s injury. Based on the interviews I have listened to after the season finale, it is clear Nathan & Elizabeth’s story is far from over.
Question #2: What happened to Lucas in the finale? What or Who did Lucas see?
My theory on this question is two parts. I think someone from Lucas’s past finds him in Capital City. Part 1 of my theory is the person shining their headlights in his face is Janette. She likely tracked him down from the campaign posters. If it is Janette I am sure it will be a friendly interaction. I am wondering if she has new intel on something that will help put the bad guys away?! Janette has indirectly played an important role in Lucas’s story since his introduction in Season 6. However, this connection was never explored, so I hope she appears and that is who he is surprised to see. The first time we heard about Janette was in Season 6 when Amos Dixon was hunting both of them for “cheating” him out of $10,000. Then her name resurfaced in Season 9 while Wyman Waldon and Amos Dixon were up to their usual mischief. Janette ghosted him while he helped her run a grift on Wyman Walden. I think it deserves to be revisited.
Part 2 of this theory is someone under the thumb of Balfour is hired to injure Lucas. Seeing that Lucas is distracted by Janette, this unknown person decides to take this opportunity to injure Lucas. Considering the facts, Lucas has managed to force the hands of several criminals. First, Amos Dixon when he helped Janette get back the $10,000 swindled from her by cheating at a game of poker. Then, Wyman Walden and his illegal operations are no longer able to succeed because Lucas outsmarted them. Finally, Balfour and Montague’s plan to divert water was abruptly halted when he won the election for Governor. He cost them significant amounts of money, time, and resources. For those reasons alone Lucas had made a lot of enemies. However, the result of Lucas doing these things is for the better but it makes him unpopular with influential individuals.
I am looking forward to seeing Lucas excel in his higher calling and the role he plays in Capital City and Hope Valley!
Question #3: Will Season 11 explore Fiona’s personal life?
I hope so! We have spent the last 5 years focusing on her as a businesswoman standing her ground in a predominantly male field. I loved that spunk and determination when she first arrived. We’ve seen her change careers multiple times from switchboard operator to now stylist/barber. Now, I want to delve deeper into her character. There have been hints here and there about her personal life such as she had a fiance in San Fransisco at some point. She had what I considered a flirty relationship with Hickam in Seasons 8 but that never went anywhere. My secret (or not so secret anymore) wish is that Fiona and Lucas work together closely and start to develop feelings for one another. They have so much in common and could be a power couple in Capital City and Hope Valley. It’s time to utilize Kayla Wallace because she has so much to bring to the show. This is a slow burn I could get behind and something that could be carried into more seasons.
Question #4: How does Allie react to Lucas & Elizabeth’s breakup?
This is one question that has me stumped. I am convinced when Elizabeth broke Nathan’s heart in Season 8 it broke Allie. She was sad most of the season and it was heartbreaking to watch. Kudos to Jaeda Lily Miller for an amazing performance! Not to mention I feel she was used as a pawn but that’s a conversation for another time. We never explored how Elizabeth’s treatment of Nathan affected Allie, which I feel was a huge mistake. So, I am hoping we revisit this topic. I believe her reaction and feelings will largely influence Nathan's storyline with Elizabeth. That being said, I think Allie has matured significantly over the last couple of seasons. I can see Allie reacting in one of two ways. She will react maturely, yet cautiously, and offer Nathan support while allowing him to work through this on his own. Or she will approach Nathan about what this means for them as a family. I really cannot see Allie acting immature and stomping off. Without a doubt, she will have questions for both Nathan and Elizabeth and my hope is we see Allie at least discuss these questions or concerns with Nathan. However, it would be nice for Allie and Elizabeth to have a mature conversation about it too without Nathan there. It would show growth and maturity for Allie.
Question #5: Who’s getting married in Season 11?
This is a very thought-provoking question and I have wavered back and forth. I have concluded there are only 3 options. Mei and Mike Hickam, Nathan and Elizabeth, or another couple we have not met. Let’s dive deeper into each option.
Mei and Mike:
In the latter half of Season 10, we witnessed Mike and Mei flirt with one another. They grappled privately with their feelings for one another but toward the end, they were finally able to express it to each other. I could maybe see them marrying at the end of Season 11 but they would have to cover a lot of ground in the other 11 episodes. I still need to get to know Mike and Mei as individuals and as a couple before fully supporting an engagement or wedding. I need more dates, chats, etc. to facilitate getting to know them. Perhaps an engagement or wedding in a later season like Season 12, 13, or so on! *hint hint Hallmark!* This alone is why I don’t foresee them getting married in Season 11. I mean we don’t even know where Hickam lives!
Nathan and Elizabeth:
A marriage between Nathan and Elizabeth this season is extremely plausible to me. Nathan and Elizabeth have known each other for 5 years. They have shared MANY intimate moments and vulnerable conversations since they first met. They have both challenged one another and encouraged each other to become better people. They’ve shared advice from similar situations such as being a single parent. These alone are not reasons to marry someone. But putting these pieces together and looking at the bigger picture I see a beautiful love story unfolding with friendship as the foundation.
We’ve been on this journey of Elizabeth finding love after loss for 5 years and it’s about time to see the fruition of her search. If a wedding between Nathan and Elizabeth were to happen I fully anticipate it being at the end of the season. They need to have ample time and opportunities to talk about their feelings and everything that happened from S8-10. This includes Elizabeth being completely honest with herself and Nathan about her grief over Jack’s death, Nathan being honest about why his attempted relationships with Faith and Mei fizzled out before they began, etc. I do not see any reason narratively for them to hold off on marrying Nathan and Elizabeth for another season or two. I think it is time to move forward in this storyline and I am hopeful we will see this in Season 11.
However, I can see why they would not go this route due to Elizabeth and Lucas breaking up. No doubt they knew it would be polarizing and shock a fraction of the fanbase. Given the period, it may seem rather fast to go from one broken engagement to marriage with a different man. This wouldn’t set well with a portion of the fanbase and may not be historically accurate. But if we have learned anything from Season 10, it’s that the writers do not shy away from storylines that might be unpopular with the fanbase. Also, this show is not supposed to be rooted in historical accuracy.
Another Couple:
Option 3 for a wedding would be a couple we have never met. This is a possibility but I highly doubt they go this route. Weddings are a huge deal in Hope Valley and the writers want the fans (us!) to be invested. It is not likely for us to be invested in a couple we have never met. Therefore, I doubt this will happen. But who knows!
Question #6: What is the outcome of Henry’s trip to see Abigail?
I know a lot of people are hoping Abigail comes back so I am likely in the minority. I hope she does not come back full-time. I wouldn't mind if she came for a visit and stayed for an episode or two. However, I do not see the benefit of having her back full-time. We already have too many main characters as it is and the majority of the secondary characters have main storylines. Without diving into the politics I think we all know there are huge logistical hurdles if this were to happen. Regardless, my opinion remains the same. I adore Abigail and thoroughly enjoyed the first 5 seasons with her! She is still very much a part of the Hope Valley family and her character is frequently mentioned. And I hope we continue to hear updates from Henry, Elizabeth, or even Bill about Abigail. I think that would be a good idea and help with the continuity of the show. For me, simply hearing about her is enough and I don’t need to physically see her return to feel satisfied.
Question #7: How will Rosemary and Lee continue to grow as parents?
I have wondered what Rosemary and Lee will do now that they are parents. I am looking forward to seeing them grow as parents together but also individually. I feel like Lee has gotten lost in the Rosemary of it all the last couple of seasons. In my opinion, it would be in the best interest of their characters to separate their work and personal life. My hope is we will see Rosemary back at the Valley Voice writing for the newspaper. Lee takes a step back from the paper to focus on growing and managing his lumber business. I don’t have an issue with them sharing an office but sometimes it feels like they are business partners rather than husband and wife. This feeling carries over into their personal life because there is very little separation. If Lee continues to focus on the newspaper his character growth will continue to be stunted. He is more than just arm candy for Rosemary. He is a successful business owner and I wish that would be highlighted more. I think it would be a nice change in pace to see Rosemary press pause on working so much as a new mother. I want to see her enjoy motherhood and learn to navigate it. I know this is a potentially controversial topic and as someone who does not have children, I am going to refrain from commenting on it too much.
Side note: I hope Lee helps Hickam manage Queen of Hearts!
Question #8: Who are the new faces/characters we will see?
I have already mentioned Janette but I think there could be others. It would be fun to see Harry’s parents visit Hope Valley since he seemed to have a somewhat important role in the storylines this season. I also thought maybe we would see some of Hickam’s family come to visit which would make sense if he and Mei get married. Another potential new face could be Fian’s ex-fiance since he was mentioned in a previous season. Which would make sense if we explored more of her personal life. The other potential new face(s) we might see are related to the Fort Clay incident. I hope this is the direction the writers went because it would allow Elizabeth to meet the other Mounties Jack saved and perhaps allow her to take a step forward in her grief. I think Superintendent Hargreaves still has a personal vendetta against Nathan related to the accident at Fort Clay. It would also clear up any confusion or half-truths about what happened that day. Either way, I cannot wait to see new characters and learn how they intertwine with the current characters and propel the story forward.
Question #9: What will Minnie & Joseph’s primary storyline be in Season 11?
I will be completely honest when I say I forgot what their storylines were this season. After thinking about it for a while I realized Minnie and Joseph have one, if not two, of the most important storylines coming up in Season 11. Season 10 set the scene for Minnie and Joseph to own the cafe fully. Spoiler Alert: Pictures have surfaced with a new cafe sign simply reading “Cafe.” This is so important because the cafe is one of the central spots in the town and a main place for gathering. I hope this means Minnie will have a more active role in the season rather than a seemingly passive role. The other major potential storyline with the Canfields involves Joseph finally accepting his calling as a full-time pastor. In Season 10 there was a brief mention of Eagle Creek needing a pastor. I think it would be powerful to see (or at least hear about) Joseph taking on the role of Valley Pastor. He would be headquartered in Hope Valley, of course, and I am sure the logistics of filming would contribute to how frequently he traveled. But I think it would elevate his storyline and the show. It is past time for the Canfields to have a central role in the community.
Question #10: What will happen with the water diversion storyline? How will it continue into Season 11?
This is probably more so the #1 or #2 question for most fans. I think the water diversion storyline was written to be a two-season arc. With Lucas as Governor, the water is no longer being diverted away from Hope Valley or the smaller towns, at least not legally. What interests me here is how this affects Eagle Creek and Rock Creek. Along with Hope Valley, these two towns were at the forefront of the water diversion storyline in Season 10. Do I believe water has been restored? Maybe. But there is no high stakes in immediately restoring water so I predict we will see Balfour, Montegue, and others attempt to continue diverting water. This leads me to my prediction this will be part of Lucas’s big storyline as the Governor in Season 11. I think the resolution of the water diversion storyline will wrap up near the end of the season.
Question #11: Will Faith continue to explore her independence or another love interest?
I want Faith to stay single and focus on her career. She is a strong independent woman and I think they have always shown us that. Lately, she has been all over the place story-wise. She went from a serious relationship with Carson to flirting with Nathan and Hickam. But she didn’t end up with either one of them. I would like to see more focus on her as the doctor for those in Hope Valley and the surrounding area. She worked hard to become a doctor and make a name for herself in a field primarily dominated by men in that period. I would be disappointed to see that wasted and placed on the back burner for yet another potential love story.
