Season 12 Questions & Predictions
Join me as I share popular Questions & Predictions for Season 12!
Social media is abuzz and ever since the Season 11 finale, there have been plenty of questions and predictions for Season 12. Here are some of the popular ones and some were submitted to me via Instagram. I’ll also share some of my questions and predictions. Enjoy!
Question 1: What does the Fort Clay cliffhanger entail going forward?
First, let me address one of the major “concerns” since the finale; Jack is not returning to Hope Valley. I have been thinking about all the possibilities for this storyline. Elizabeth and Nathan have worked through the Fort Clay “issue” throughout the seasons. In Season 8, Elizabeth explicitly tells Nathan that she does not blame him for Jack’s death nor fault him for coming to Hope Valley. Earlier in Season 11 they spoke about it again and WHY Nathan decided to transfer to Hope Valley, survivor’s guilt, etc. So what possibly could the writers do to keep this storyline going? I think the purpose is to address Hargreaves’s vendetta against Nathan. Whatever he has to tell Elizabeth will likely be the catalyst for Nathan and Elizabeth’s couple story for the season. I suspect, Nathan will investigate the “new information” Hargreaves tells Elizabeth. One thing is for sure, whatever is said Nathan and Elizabeth will face it head-on together and come out stronger on the other side.
Question 2: Will Nathan & Elizabeth get engaged or married in S12?
This is perhaps one of the most asked questions floating around social media and in comment sections. I have two takes on this topic, my personal opinion/preference and what the writers could do based on last season. First, my personal opinion is Nathan & Elizabeth have a lot they need to address before marriage is on the table. Among the unresolved conversations is how Elizabeth told Nathan she was searching for Jack in him. That was not addressed last season and it needs to be adequately handled. Plus, last season they moved their relationship at a snail’s pace. Yes, it’s friends to lovers and they don’t need to “date” technically. I WANT to see them date a little. No, not 100 candles and reading poetry. A date where they have real adult conversations and have fun. Now, I think the writers could potentially have them engaged by the end of Season 12. Nathan & Elizabeth are the main couple of the show so they will want to keep them unmarried for as long as possible which is why I doubt they marry in Season 12. I don’t agree with this line of thought only because having them married opens a whole world of stories. Namely, the blended family storylines and what marriage to a Mountie is like in the 1920s. But given the track record of the show I believe setting the expectation they will get engaged, let alone married, will result in disappointment and resentment.
Question 3: Will Allie be involved in a romance this season?
This is tricky for me because I think a teen romance would be refreshing but on the other hand I want the kids to be kids. Jaeda, who plays Allie, brings so much depth to Allie’s story and tackles the difficult topics with such grace and strength. If anyone can tackle teen romance it would be her. However, my concern is the storyline will become juvenile and petty due to time constraints with filming. I would rather Allie (and Robert) be focused on their future careers and growing in that way before entering a romance. Plus, Robert has graduated school and Allie is likely not far behind. A little more maturity would be expected in their relationship which is why I fear if time is limited the story would become childish and petty. Overall, I am not on board with a romance at this time for the reasons I mentioned above. Could the writers go that route to do something a little different? Perhaps, but only time will tell.
Question 4: Is a romance between Tom and Faith completely out of the picture?
Talk about bringing a story full circle and rejuvenating the show all at once! This is something I can fully get behind. Faith has been unlucky in love for the past several seasons. However, last season we saw a spark between Faith and Tom. Could it advance into something more or just remain a spark that eventually fizzles out? I want to see Tom return in Season 12 and future seasons. His return to Hope Valley can easily be explained by visits to his sister-in-law, Elizabeth, and nephew, Jack. This would be a perfect way to intertwine storylines. Think of it as killing two birds with one stone but the birds of storyline and Tom is the stone! Plus, I feel like Faith has grown in her confidence as a doctor and woman. I feel it is time for her to open her heart to love again.
Question 5: Does Jeanette return to Hope Valley after everything that happened in the finale?
Once upon a time, I wished for Lucas and Jeanette to give their firey chemistry a chance at romance. Unfortunately, that is off the table with her arrest and the illegal dealings she was involved in last season. I also think she broke Lucas’s trust for good and he was her only connection to Hope Valley. It is probably best that Jeanette stays in jail to maintain the show’s integrity.
Question 6: Are Christmas Bells ringing in Hope Valley, and will there be a new Christmas episode in S12?
Christmas in Hope Valley is special and I would love to see that return even in an hour-long episode. I doubt they will make a Christmas episode or movie due to budget and time constraints. We can certainly keep wishing!
Question 7: What does married life look like for Mei and Mike?
Unpopular opinion, but I am a huge fan of Mike and Mei, especially of their marriage last season. Did it seem rushed at times? Sure, but to me it made logical sense with all the wedding talk around them and the topics of conversation between them. In Season 12, I want to see them navigate life as a married couple. Hopefully, we will see some of their “hardships” and watch them face difficult decisions together. Perhaps, they are bickering about decor or furniture for the house. Speaking of living spaces, where will they live?
Question 8: Upon Lucas’s return to Capital City, how does his primary role of Governor come into play in S12?
It would be naive of me to expect NO politics where Lucas is concerned considering he is the Governor. But I do think it would be wise to tone down the frequency of politics. One of Lucas’s strengths is most definitely politics but I would love to see that balanced with some more of his personal life. Last season I understood the need for politics to take center stage in his life. Now, he’s had time to settle into his role as Governor and I want to see what new ideas he brings to the table. I also want to see a little spark of romance or something in his personal life. Perhaps, a Capital City romance or something completely different? I never thought this day would come but I think it is time for Nathan and Lucas to forge a true friendship. With Hargreaves returning it would be interesting to see Lucas’s role in supporting Nathan as a friend while maintaining an objective stance required for an individual in office. Anyway, just spitballing ideas because I think his storyline has the potential to be the most interesting and refresh the show.
Question 9: How will The Coulter’s family time evolve as business booms and Goldie gets older?
Last season I wanted to see a work-life balance struggle with the Coulter’s. They hinted at a struggle but it felt brushed over and they never revisited it. For Season 12, I would like to see more intentional family time and less involvement in every business in town. Currently, they own the saloon, lumber mill, and newspaper, and Lee is the interim mayor of Hope Valley. Did I miss anything? Either way, that’s a lot to juggle on top of being parents to Goldie who just turned 1 around mid-season 11. It feels a little bit like too much for one couple and can potentially limit space for other characters. I know Hickam manages the saloon but Lee and Rosemary still own it. I think it’s time to reduce their town responsibilities to allow for more growth and family time. After all, we spent a good portion of their marriage and Season 10 focusing on Rosemary and Lee becoming parents. I don’t want a repeat of last season when they seemingly forgot about Goldie most of the days.
Question 10: Will Fiona return to Hope Valley in Season 12?
I hope to see Fiona return even if it’s in a reduced capacity. Unfortunately, I think due to the direction of her character it would not be plausible for her to stay in staying in Hope Valley long-term. But she’s a strong, independent, smart business woman and I would love for that to be incorporated somehow. Perhaps, she and Lucas discuss business in Capitol City?
Question 11: What will the Canfield’s main storyline be in Season 12?
Last season we got some backstory on Joseph Canfield with the introduction of his brother. That story had a beautiful ending and brought the Canfields closer as a family. Now, I’m curious about Minnie’s side of the family. We’ve heard Minnie’s father mentioned numerous times and it seems Joseph doesn’t get along too well with him. That would be interesting to dive deeper into!
Question 12: What does Faith & Lily’s storyline look like in Season 12?
Faith seems to have found her purpose as a motherly figure to Lily. She’s excelling as the town doctor and gained more confidence professionally. Last season, Mrs. Watson decided to give Faith custody of Lily. My wish is to see Faith and Lily strengthen their bond throughout the season. By the season finale I hope we see Faith adopt Lily—Lily Carter fits perfectly! Also, will Lily attend Elizabeth’s class? If so, will Elizabeth being Lily’s teacher impact her friendship with Faith?

Love these thoughts so much.
Your thoughts on marriage for Nathan and Elizabeth make sense and I'd love to see them married soon so either will be fine, I'm just happy that whatever they do and go through will be together.
I really think Nathan's mountie skills will come into play in regards to Hargraves and his bombshell, Nathan is indeed an impeccable man and mountie and I think that will shine.
As for Lucas I love him and hope for an amazing love for him and yes, I too would love to see a close friendship between him and Nathan.
Glad to see you blogging again! I’m glad to read your thoughts!
