Season 12: Deep Dive into Promotional Material
Let's chat all things When Calls the Heart Season 12!
Hey friends! A couple of weeks ago, I did an Instagram Q&A sharing my opinions about Season 12. I thought I would post some of the answers here and my more detailed pre-season thoughts! Can you believe we are only 2 days away from premiere day?
Season 12 Poster
Help! I can’t get up! I don’t know what I was expecting but it was not this poster, and I mean this in a good way!
Here are some of the questions and my answers regarding the Season 12 poster from IG Q&A.
Question: Love this poster for Season 12! What are your thoughts about it?
Answer: The poster is beautiful! Pure perfection if you ask me. There is no mistaking Nathan & Elizabeth are the center of the show and their relationship is progressing. Last season the poster with them showed they were close but not really touching. In the Season 12 poster they have progressed to a more intimate pose together. They are face to face and heart to heart.
The tagline is "Love sparks a new golden era." It's fitting seeing as their love story is unfolding in a new era!
Overall 10/10 from me!
There is not much for me to add to my answer above! I appreciate the tonal shift the poster presents. It is light, airy, and presents a clear decision to progress their relationship. I also love the 1920-themed backdrop since they are entering the Roaring 20s. I feel it ties into the tagline perfectly and sets the tone for expectations.

Hallmark Channel Preview - A Brand New Era
Question: What did you think of the new trailer?
Answer: I love it! I am excited to see Hope Valley in the Roaring 20s! We will see the Charleston, Nathan & Elizabeth horseback riding, Allie's birthday party, Nathan mentoring a young Mountie, and much more! I am intrigued by the "modern mystery" description and meeting the new characters. Oh and "ritzy romance" sounds exquisite too!! Mei and Mike also have a house or little apartment. So I am curious to see how they adjust to living together and the challenges they will face as a married couple!
Question: What was your biggest surprise in the trailer?
Answer: My biggest surprise was not a single moment per se, but the fact that Hope Valley is going full swing into the 20s. It's giving Great Gatsby vibes.
If I had to pick a single moment I would say I was surprised to see Elizabeth's Charleston dance attire. She looks stunning and it's edgy for When Calls the Heart. Most definitely mirrors Daisy from Great Gatsby. No complaints from me about the dress because it’s absolutely beautiful and works so well with the themes presented.
In addition to my thoughts above I think When Calls the Heart is reaching a new high this season based on the promos. Nathan’s fun side is highlighted more this season. Of course, I expect a more serious storyline based on the Season 11 cliffhanger and modern mystery tease. I am equally excited to see Nathan stretch his teaching muscles with the Mountie cadet which might add a little romance to Allie’s life. Perhaps the most important thing I am looking forward to is seeing Nathan & Elizabeth experience love and explore their romance free of guilt. They deserve love with no bounds for their joy and happiness. I want to see Mei & Mike in a more domestic environment as they settle into married life. Overall, it appears there will be a new side of Hope Valley and its citizens as the Roaring 20s come to life this season!
Super Channel Heart & Home Promo
This promo has repeat clips but I wanted to focus on two parts. First, it’s Jack and Lily’s first day of school! This is going to be a sweet story this season. It is about time Jack attended school and to do so in the school his Father built is special. I am thrilled we will see more of Lily and Faith since their storyline last season touched my heart! Second, I am curious about the conversation between Nathan and Rosemary. They rarely speak to each other in a non-professional capacity. Rosemary appears to be reassuring or encouraging him about something. I cannot wait to see this scene unfold. Furthermore, I have always dreamed of a friendship between Nathan and Rosemary. Hopefully, this is the start of a new friendship!
Hallmark Channel Preview #2
This 10-second clip can easily become a 2-hour movie in my head! Allie giving dating advice is hilarious and perfect for a teenage girl! The dance in the school and the sunrise (or sunset) horseback ride are everything in my wildest dreams! They are face to face, heart to heart, and soul to soul. It is a beautiful image of their internal love for one another! I hope these last two scenes are longer than a few seconds but no complaints from me either way! Seeing them dance and fully embrace each other makes my heart soar with happiness and joy!
Hallmark+ Promo Clip
Another short clip turned into a movie after I watched it on repeat! It appears we will have another porch scene full of stargazing and love! The quick scene with Elizabeth appearing relaxed and make-up-free is the most intriguing. I cannot wait to see what or who she is looking at!
Quick Note:
Parade Magazine posted a sneak peek today. I am having trouble linking it here but it was a school scene. It was sweet! I think this will be the season Elizabeth has to learn how to balance being Jack’s mom and teacher. It will be interesting!
